Min Chi-gyeom orders Taesik to give false testimony. / A blank testimony sheet is laid in front of Taesik. — Min Chi-gyeom: "The king is dead. Write that your daughter lured him to the watercourse."
Taesik gives false testimony without having seen Yeonhwa. / Taesik puts his mark at the bottom of the paper. — Taesik: "I saw it myself." He wrote that he had seen what he had not seen.
Yeonhwa waits for her father's eyes. Her hands are bound in front. — Yeonhwa: "You were in a prison cell."

Yeonhwa's hand passes over the brush. The brush stays where it is.
Yeonhwa asks her first question at the same height as her father. — Yeonhwa: "You shut Mother in so she could not speak, didn't you?"
Taesik cannot answer at once. For the first time Yeonhwa's question stops him. / Taesik answers, thinking he is making the offence smaller. — Taesik: "I never said to kill her. I only locked the door."
The jailer by the open door hears it and lifts his face. / Yeonhwa narrows the question to one thing. — The jailer at the door heard it too. Yeonhwa: "Who had the key?"
Taesik pushes himself up with a hand on the table.
Taesik admits himself that he held the key. — Taesik: "I had it. Do you want to die as well?"
Looking into her father's eyes, Yeonhwa turns the paper toward the jailer. / Yeonhwa asks the jailer to record what he has just heard. — Yeonhwa: "Write down exactly what you just heard."
The jailer begins to record Taesik's words on Yeonhwa's paper. — What was written on that paper was not Yeonhwa's confession.
The jailer looks straight at Taesik with the brush in his hand. — Jailer: "I heard it."
Yeonhwa states the conclusion to Taesik without smiling. — Yeonhwa: "The one who confessed is you, Father."
Taesik stops the hand he was reaching toward the record. / The jailer's brush keeps moving. The record remains. — Someone had heard, and a record remained.
