The broker upends the bundle over the drinking table — only sewing spills out. / (new · close-up) The sewing spilled across the table — spools, a needle case, a half-mended grey garment. — A courtesan house in the capital. The broker irritated. For the first time there is no laughter in her. / From the sewing to the broker's face. From unsteadiness to cold certainty. — Broker: "Where did you hide the ledger?" Yeonhwa: "You brought me here… because of that ledger?" What my father sold was not a daughter. It was the road to the ledger.
(hands) A hand comes through the gap of the door and passes a heavy purse into the broker's hand. / The broker checks the money. The laughter returns — the price has gone up. — a heavy clink Broker: "This gentleman paid a hundred."
(new · band) Yeonhwa's eyes drop to a bottle beside the drinking table. / (hands) Her right hand closes around the neck of a small ceramic bottle. At her thigh, below her face. — I measured the distance to the door.
Toward the door. A low voice with the urgency pressed down. / The door opens and Doyun steps in. He speaks only after his face is seen. — Yeonhwa: "Who is it that means to take me?" Doyun: "Come with me, Yeonhwa."
(new) Doyun's face. An easy smile — a man who has paid. / Her eyes waver for a moment. She does not look away. Certainty → they lower as she grasps the betrayal. — Doyun, son of Min Chi-gyeom. The man about to marry her sister Chaeryeong. Yeonhwa: "You are marrying my sister. And you bought me?"
Doyun closes the door, steps closer and reaches out. In the foreground, the bottle lifted slightly at her side. — clack
